Working within the 192 Sales Team
Case Study: Claire, Account Manager, 192 Sales
I’ve been at 192 for 2 years now and I’m an Account Manager working within the retail sector....
So what made me choose sales?!
I joined 192 after I finished my degree in History and Politics and my MA in International Relations and to be honest, sales sort of chose me! I wanted a job that was fast paced, dynamic and highly challenging. Sales lets you get out of your job what you put in. Work hard and not only do you get a huge sense of achievement but you also see great financial reward!
And why did I choose 192?
From the minute I went in for an interview I felt a really good vibe from 192. The company is ambitious and the demand for identity check and fraud prevention solutions is driven by the identity theft. 192 are expanding rapidly and so far have offered excellent opportunities to further my experience and move up the ranks quickly. 192 have a large client base that is fast growing and they are a leading, well known brand in the various sectors they work within.
Working my way up the ranks…
I started at the entry level working as a Telesales Account Manager based primarily in the office. This initially involved managing existing accounts but I quickly progressed to generating new business and accompanying senior sales staff on meetings. I developed myself within this role for 12 months, absorbing the complexities of the product and giving numerous online demos with prospects and clients. As a TAM I also attended numerous trade shows and conferences which gave me a taste for face-to-face interaction with prospects and made me keen to get into field sales and become a road warrior!
I was then promoted to Account Manager and currently manage such accounts as Harvey Nics, Harrods, Panasonic and Jaeger. I love being able to get out and visit my clients to upsell products or train them on using the product more efficiently. It’s also exciting pitching for new business with prospective clients and following the sales cycle through to its conclusion.
So, what does the future hold for me at 192?
I intend to put in the hard graft to work my way up to being a Senior Account Manager. I have various sub sectors within retail such as travel and alcohol which I intend to make my own and grow new business within these areas which will generate me some nice revenue!
And after a hard day in the office....
We are a young and dynamic team and this makes it easy to socialise out of work. This could be a drink after work down the local pub or joining the company’s netball team. I believe it shows a great team spirit if you want to socialise with the people you spend all day working with.
