Recently  it has come to our attention that some companies are asking applicants to obtain their own ID verification check via a suggested supplier, rather than carrying out their own verification, which is standard practise.

Whilst we’re unable to comment on individual cases, we would urge you to consider the following advice:

  • A reputable employer will not normally ask you to obtain your own ID verification check and you should be suspicious of anyone who asks you to do this.
  • You should never pay money to an employer to obtain work; this includes paying for ID checks, flights, training or other ‘expenses’.
  • You should never accept work from an employer that asks you to transfer money on their behalf.
