National Fraud Programme Update

The first progress report since December 2007 has been released by the National Fraud Programme with updates on a number of key topics for those working within the fraud prevention sector.

The update carries news of an inter-ministerial group , co-chaired by the Attorney General, Baroness Scotland, and the Under Secretary of State for Crime Reduction, Vernon Coaker MP, who will also be speaking at Prove-ID 7 in September.

The update will make for interesting reading for the financial sector, with mortgage fraud marked as an early priority and plans to develop a national counter-fraud strategy.

The release also covers plea negotiations and there is a progress update on the National Fraud Reporting Centre and Intelligence Bureau.
