HR executive files for constructive dismissal over LinkedIn CV

HR recruiter John Flexman is seeking a six-figure settlement from his previous employer, after the posting of his CV online led to his resignation.

The events began after he posted his CV on the social networking website LinkedIn and indicated that he was open to new career opportunities. His employers, the BG Group allegedly asked him to withdraw his CV claiming that he was in violation of company policies and charged him with revealing confidential information.

According to the Telegraph Mr. Flexman said: "It seemed to me that the focus of the charge sheet was the posting of my CV online". He defended his actions claiming that the information on his CV was freely available in the company’s annual report. He also claims that over 20 of his co-workers, including the manager of the disciplinary process, have indicated that they are interested in new career opportunities on LinkedIn.

Mr Flexman resigned from his position last June and is filing for constructive dismissal, a hearing is now taking place.
