Gaming: New Conditions and Codes of Practice
The Gambling Commission has now released its revised Licence Conditions and Codes of Practice (LCCP) which will affect all licensees, including remote gambling operators.
The announcement follows an extensive consultation, which 192business participated in, and the announcement has been made to allow operators time to implement the changes in time for the new year.
There are a number of changes, which include key events which licence holders will need to report if there is a potential threat to the integrity of a licences business.
The new LCCP also requires stronger focus upon anti-money laundering and includes the need to appoint a person responsible for anti money laundering and Suspicious Activity (SARS) reports. The LCCP states that licensees should act in accordance with the Commission’s previously published guidance; The Prevention of Money Laundering and Combating Terrorism - Guidance for remote and non-remote casinos.
Customer identification is also a key theme; operators are now required to link accounts to ensure that responsible gaming limits and self-exclusion requirements are able to be implemented. Social responsibility and under-age gambling are also covered by the LCCP which sets out guidelines for age verification, requiring remote operators to implement “all reasonable improvements that may be made as technology advances and as information improves”.
