International Fraud Forum Closed
Police in Germany have confirmed that they have successfully intercepted and closed down a hacking forum used to sell stolen credit card details. Codesoft.cc distributed Trojan software, estimated to have infected around 80,000 computers. The Trojan software then captured login details, including confidential passwords and credit card details. The data was then sold on at a profit, and used to commit internet shopping fraud.
The codesoft.cc website has now been removed; however there are a number of adverts recruiting hackers to the site which are still live, as shown below.

Police raided a Swiss national’s house and confiscated two computers containing several terabytes of data storage, including the contact details and IP Addresses of others using the forum. Two other arrests linked to the forum, have also been made.
It is common for fraudsters to use forums and chat software such as IRC to share intelligence and sell card details and other information used to commit internet shopping fraud. In 2008 the FBI closed down the carder forum ‘Dark Market’ and made several arrests following its closure.
192 is helping internet retailers to hit back, and offers a dedicated forum for merchants to share best practice and prevent their sites being hit by internet shopping fraudsters.
