Inside an ID Fraud Factory

192.com Business Services have been given permission by the Metropolitan Police to publish a picture taken of the inside of an ' ID Fraud Factory'. The image shows a printing press used to create various identity documents which can then be used to create fake identities and carry out identity fraud.

Fake ID documents created might include official and legal papers such as passports, birth certificates and visas. It may also include documents such as utility bills which are commonly requested as proof of identity, despite them being relatively simple to forge. These documents can then be used to gain further proofs of identity or be used to work illegally, open bank accounts for laundering money gained through criminal activity or even to make a fraudulent mortgage application.

Details of the factory are currently restricted, however this photograph has been released as it shows the extent to which fraudsters go to carry out such organised crimes.
