Octopus Travel, a Travelport company, is a leading online hotel retailer displaying real-time availability and confirmations in multiple languages. It provides access to a huge inventory of over 50,000 hotels in more than 6,000 cities, spanning 129 countries, ranging from independent hotels, chain hotels and B&B's.
The challenge
With travel as one of the most prevalent sectors for online card transactions, Octopus Travel wanted to be confident that they were taking all necessary steps to stop fraudulent orders through their website.
The solution
Octopus Travel brought in 192business to check all their hotel bookings made through their
website and call centre on a global scale. They use global credit reference databases such as Germany the USA and Sweden and global addressing and telephone data for other markets to verify identity of their customers.
By utilising 192business Octopus Travel have now taken down their manual fraud checking from 30 checks a day to around 12 and they project they will be saving over £20,000 a year by using 192business solutions.
